WARG CERT

Wallingford Amateur Radio Group Emergency CommunicationsThe Wallingford Amateur Radio Group (WARG) Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue and team organization. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event based on the training they ave received. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.

Town of Wallingford Emergency ManagementWallingford Amateur Radio Group (WARG) consists of volunteer amateur radio operators who work closely with the town of Wallingford Office of Emergency Management and CERT Team by providing back up communications in the event of a local, regional, state or national emergency.

WARG has provided communication assistance to the town for various emergency preparedness training exercises, assisted town fire and police with road closure information during flooding and severe weather events and provides public service for town events including: Celebrate Wallingford and the Fishbein Annual Road Race.

We have a local coverage GMRS repeater for CERT operations and general use. It is operated by GMRS licensed MARC members as well as CERT members. We work closely with Emergency Management and the Wallingford Health Department and also support the Medical Reserve Corp.
