Welcome to the Meriden Amateur Radio Club
The Meriden Amateur Radio Club (MARC) is an ARRL affiliated Special Service Club that took form in 1947 under the call W1SBF. In 1952 MARC was assigned the call sign W1NRG to memorialize club member Ed Bisschert who was a dedicated club booster who held several elected posts during his time with the club and acted as a true “Elmer,” helping many learn Morse Code and study for their licensing exams. The Meriden Amateur Radio Club continues that tradition today, with members that consist of a dynamic group of licensed amateur (ham) radio operators that have a spectrum of interests that include:
- Public service
- Dx
- 10/10 international net
- ISS/Satellites
- Fox Hunts
- Parks on the Air (POTA)
- CW
- Contesting
Open House Every Saturday
MARC is open to the public every Saturday during a social gathering from 9 a.m. to noon at the Wallingford Emergency Management building in the Hope Hill Firehouse, 143 Hope Hill Road, Wallingford, CT 06492. Walk-in VE testing toward licensure is held on the second Saturday of the month starting at 9 a.m. Any interested members of the public are always welcome to drop in, see our amateur radio station in operation, and chat with our members. A lot of great ideas for the club have come out of this open house, as well, such as our Fox Hunts, and recent forays into ballooning and Winlink.
See the Directions page for a map and directions.
