In April 2024, 14 of MARC/WARG Rookies participated in the ARRL Rookie Roundup SSB. We opened the club station and provided control operators as needed to enable our Technicians Class Rookies to operate on all available HF Bands. Most operated from the club station as individual operators but some were able to operate from their home QTH stations. K1LYP opened his home station and hosted a group of four operators who participated as a multi op entry.

Our Rookies posted the top 3 scores in the “Single Op: W1” category and fifth overall in the “Multi Op” Rankings. Our objective was to give our Rookies exposure to HF SSB operations with a sampling of contesting. It was a learning experience and everyone had a good time.
