WAS Basic
#1
HA! Made my WAS Basic. Those two W1AW/1 - /3 Stations finally uploaded their logs to LoTW!
Next in-line is 40M. I have 44 Q's on that band.

Good for you Rob. I tried MT last night but was a pile up. I'm waiting on MT and HI... same for the past two months.

@ Steve:
When you're listening, log in to the Club Chat room. If I'm listening too I'll log in. When I hear an MT or HI Station, I'll post it.

Twice I've had luck scoring a 'Tail End' (my description). I'll tune-up a W1AW/# Station and make contact, then listen for awhile. I made two of my WAS Contacts this way. After I hear 'my wanted contact' make the W1AW/# Station and conclude the QSO, I'll break in with something like "Alaska up ten up ten" before the pileup really gets bad.

Timing is everything but it's worked twice for me. I also let the W1AW/# Station know I am WAS Hunting and may ask a Station to QSY after the QSL. It also helps to preselect how far off you need to go. The last time was interesting. I called, "K2ND (not the real call. I forget) Up Ten Up Ten". I went there (preselected)and he responded, "Too much QRM Up Two Up Two More". Went up two more and made the QSL!

Actually AG5Z (Larry - MS as W1AW/5) took a 'note' (I guess it's called a relay or whatever) for a guy the other night. This guy was looking for a specific State. When a contact from that State made contact with AG5Z, Larry advised the wanted call to QSY afterwards (and why). There are some really helpful & understanding people on Amateur Radio.

Nice job, on the WAS. Thanks for the tip on breaking into the pileups for a contact.

KD4POJ is on 24924.5 From Minot ND. Dwayne is very accommodating and will give you his sked if you need other bands or modes. 11:27 AM Thursday Morning 16.27 UTC.
