Refreshing The Look Of The W1NRG Forum
#1

Over the next couple of Days to Weeks I will be trying to refresh the look of the W1NRG Forum by moving areas around and adding areas based on posts that I see of interest. I've turned off a couple of inactive Committee Areas until they are needed again in order to clean up the look of the forum for those that have access to the particular areas, (they are still there but just inactivated.)

You may already notice that the contesting and DXing areas have been grouped together and a NEW area added for the posting of Special On The Air Events and Discussions. I've noticed that club members have been posting these and felt they deserved their own area. Now you have a place to go to look especially for those.

I hope you like the improvements and welcome any suggestions you may have for addition of new areas or improvements.

Being a new member, I heard many referring to "the reflector" as being the place to conduct communications. I was unable to determine what this is. Come to find out it is an e-mail system that has no ties with the W1NRG website, nor apparently to this forum. It seems to be out in left field waiting for a new member to learn about it elsewhere.

Since no one seemed to answer your question John, I'll try. This forum is meant to have a specific grouping of topics and mostly has retention. Ex If you are looking for something posted a year ago, you can find it. On the down side, you must sign in and search.

The reflector is meant for a 24-48 hour period with no retention. It serves those quickie notes usually associated with an ongoing project such as a contest this weekend. The advantage is that it pops up with your e-mails. The down side is no retention and may be intermingled if there is a lot of activity.

Thanks Dan,

Steve KC1AXJ also has placed a blurb about it in the Membership "Welcome" document he has added to Membership page, 73-JOHN.
